Volcano Day Trekking Tour - North Ambrym

Description:
The full day trek begins at Ranvetlam Village. You start with an easy ascent  following a main track through  a coconut plantation, local gardens and then forest (altitude 335m, 1h 30 min). Then you enter the rain-forest.  You follow a single clean track, with gentle hills for approximately the next hour.  From there it’s around 1hr 15 min walking across the ash plane to reach the volcano: a very easy walk - flat, but without shade. You will then have 1hr walking inside a wet narrow river bed with small rock pools surrounded by reeds. This is the most technical path of this trek “Always watch your step”. 
​The last 30 minutes are the steepest part of the trek on a very narrow path but offering great panoramic views which have to be seen to be believed! After half an hour on the rim, you will retrace your steps back to the village. A slow process, scrambling carefully down the steep lava escarpments, carved out by heavy rain. If you are tired or late, your guide can arrange a 4WD  from the end of the trail to Ranon for 3,500 Vatu, or you can keep walking from Ranvetlam to reduce your transfer costs.

Please bring 1,000 VT per person to pay the landowner for volcano entrance fee at the volcano departure.

Note: If you decide to make this an over-nighter trip the price is 13,550 VT 
18,500 VT for a solo traveler. You will need to bring your own sleeping bag, basic closed shelter. Please advise if you are having difficulties in arranging this and we can see how we can help.​.
