Small Nambas Intrepid Adventure

North East & West Malekula
For those wanting an intrepid adventure, to experience the jungle, and gain insight into the indigenous culture and the economy of Vanuatu then this is the package for you. On arrival you will visit Vanuatu's largest coconut plantation and copra production plant, the Malekula Cultural Centre, colourful produce market, and the Malampa Handicraft Centre. The following day you will transfer to the north and you will commence the scenic Dogs Head Walk – traversing the top of the island staying the night in a local village before arriving at Willack Village to watch the sunset while taking a dip in the refreshing ocean waters. The next day you will wind down and experience the village life practise some of the ways the ancient Vanuatu does their living. You will be guided to a village garden get fresh harvest of either yam, taro, manioc or banana and bring back to prepare your dinner. You will have some time to mingle with the villages and enjoy the scenic sunet or snorkel the pristine corals whilst allowing dinner to be cooked. The following day onroute to Lakatoro join a mystical tour to see ancient rock art inside Tanmial Cave – the ‘Spirits’ Cave – then conclude your intrepid adventure with the Small Nambas tour in the late morning or early noon. Continue your journey to Lakatoro and spend the final night at one of the bungalows there before catching the plane either to Vila or Santo the next day.

Description:
Day 1: Arrival in Norsup Airport and you will be greeted by Malekula Tours and transfer to the bungalow to check in. To get a better insight of the island you will visit the largest coconut plantation and the copra production plant then visit the Malekula Cultural Centre, colourful Handicraft Market and get some fresh fruits from the market. You will then transfer back to your accommodation. Overnight at either Malekula Holiday Villas, Lakatoro Palm Lodge, Ameltoro, or Nambelchel Bungalow. Day 2: Norsup Airport/Atchin – by 4x4 (1 hour approx), then Atchin to Kalele Village by foot (4-5 hours walk approx). You will be picked up from your accommodation, and driven up to the North East Coast to Atchin where you meet your personal guide and porters. Your two day adventure starts with an easy walk following a truck track through coconut and cocoa plantations then a single track through local gardens and a bamboo forest. After a traditional lunch at Botco with the villagers, you'll walk for about one hour up and down under the rain-forest canopy with glimpses of the surrounding mountains. Finally, crossing a river, and short steep climb you will then arrive at Kalele village - where you will stay for the night, sleeping in a small hut-house made with local materials. Sheets are provided and you will be able to bucket shower! You will also have an opportunity to taste kava with John the village Chief alongside the river under the clear night sky; a unique and magical experience! Day 3: Kalele – Willack (7-8 hours walk approx) The second day starts with long walk up and down on a single track in beautiful highland jungle. Highlights are: river crossings with deep pools to swim, giant nabanga (banyan) trees, traditional villages, and ample opportunities to interact with the locals doing their daily tasks. You will continue until reaching Malua Bay and the truck will pick you up around 4 pm to Willack Sunset Lodge on the West Coast - conclude your adventure with a relaxing swim in the ocean or just relax on the long black sandy beach watching the stunning sunset. Local meal served by you host in your lodge. Day 4: A day to wind down after the trek with the village experience. After breakfast you will be guided to visit the local Primary School, then visit the garden. Collect foods and vegetables with your hosts and then bring them back to the village, have lunch and prepare the evening dinner with what you brought. You can then go snorkeling in the pristine clear water or just enjoy the scenic sunset, mingle with the villagers while waiting on your dinner to be cooked. Spend the night at Willack Sunset Lodge.
Day 5:After breakfast you will be sad to say sorry to your hosts and the villagers.
