Cannibal site & Nambas Package
A relaxed introduction to peaceful outer-island life and experience the unique kastom of the Small Nambas tribe while learning about their history of cannibalism. Boat across to Rano Smol Island to visit an ancient Nasara and see the strange monolithic pig-counting stones. It's a perfect taster for those with limited time but wanting to get a feel for Malekulas’ unique kastom and to soak up its coastal ambiance while enjoying great hospitality at the local bungalows in Malekula.

Description:
Day 1: Arrive 11am from Vila or 1pm from Santo and transfer to your accommodation checking in and have lunch before visiting the Big Nambas Tour at Mae pm. Overnight at either Malekula Holiday Villas, Lakatoro Palm Lodge, Ameltoro, or Nambelchel Bungalow. Day 2: Transfer from your accommodation to the Small Nambas tour and then boat transfer across to Rano Island. Have traditional lunch in the Garden Village with Taso and then visit the cannibal site of ancestors who were the last to practise cannibalism in the island of Rano. If time permits you can snorkel in the pristine blue waters of Rano Island and then cross over to the mainland to catch transfer back to your accommodation. Day 3: Visit Malekula Cultural Centre, Malampa handicraft centre to get some souvenirs before heading back to the airport. |
