Island Experience-Vanuatu
is established to get you connected with some of our islands in Vanuatu archipelago.
Island Experiences
is a new entity run by an old hand in Malekula travel, Edna, who has worked in tourism in Malekula for 12 years. The difficulties in organising such adventures cannot be understated - the need to find reliable guides, transport to/from drop/pickup points, accommodation in remote villages, transfers by boat and local flights - in a country where communications are poor. Edna has an extensive network of contacts. If you are contemplating visiting Malekula or the nearby islands, Edna is the one you need, her organisational skills and local knowledge are unsurpassed! |
OUR MISSION To inspire people from around the globe to discover the unique islands of Vanuatu and, through sustainable tourism practices, help grow businesses that strengthen our local communities |
Getting Here
Getting Here By Air and By Sea
Getting to Malekula, Ambrym, and Paama is easy with options ranging from regular flights to the province with Air Vanuatu, Air Melansiea and Bel Airways, and flight options with local airlines such as Ratua Airlines and Air Taxi. For more information please contact or email these airlines directly as not all schedules are published online and they are subject to change. Alternatively if flying is not your thing you can catch one of the regular ferry and freight services. Vanuatu Ferry does a weekly service from Port Vila to Santo visiting Malekula and sometimes other ports in between. The Big Sista Ferry also conducts a regular service. From Port Vila to Malekula can take in excess of 12 hours but these are inexpensive options and the ferry is well appointed for comfort. The sail from Malekula to Santo or vice versa is only four hours and is very scenic passing small northern provincial islands.
